A haven of sensuous sophistication
The large and luxurious chalet is possible to ski out from and is arguably one of the finest and most sought-after private residencies in chic Megève; a resort which has Mont Blanc in the backdrop and one that remains also one of the smartest in the French Alps. Located in the Haute Savoie, the resort nestles in a huge ski area of more than four hundred kilometres approximately an hour’s drive from Geneva international airport. Megève has long been a favourite for less ostentatious of the well-heeled alpine and so bestows plenty of luxury, designer boutiques, fine restaurants and a more relaxed après-ski scene. The chalet itself is situated in the resort’s principal enclave of Mont d’Arbois and boasts fine panoramic scenic views and an outstanding design that emanates from and majestically incorporates the traditional stone and timber construction that is typical to the region. Its imperious façade features an entrance staircase that swoops up to the second of the chalet’s three levels. The lowest of these is designed into a most engaging arrangement of spaces devoted to wellness and relaxation. A corridor, fully glazed on both sides runs counter to the impressive wine cellar and the superbly designed and games/television/cinema lounge and a bar/tea room; all spacious, open and interconnecting with slide glazing providing access and extension out onto the front garden terrace. The middle tier houses the majority of bedrooms and with the eye-popping indoor infinity swimming pool, with counter current and adjustable floor, which is graced with a wide lounging deck, a high, church-like vaulted timber ceiling and fronted by a wall of full-length on two sides. There is similar expansive glazing through which to appreciate an all-encompassing view of the beautiful scenery from the chalet’s impressive top floor, double-height living area with a huge open stone fireplace and yet more spacious, distinctive and connecting living spaces. Outside the south-west facing balcony terrace overlooks the Rochebrune slopes. The relish of the attention to detail and finish in the décor is immaculate and presents a superlative blend and combinations of richly contrasting materials and textures: exposed and treated mountain stone and sleek, engineered wood flooring; smooth, shiny leather in counterpoint to luxuriant rugs; rich furry throws across dense, soft beds. The edgier lines of the more minimalist, modern furnishings and the quality of household appointments offer too an admirable contrast with the rustic, aged wood of the chalet’s eye-catching walls and vaulted, beam and rafter ceilings.
This spatially generous chalet has the capacity to accommodate 14 guests – 10 adults and 4 preteens – in great comfort in a total of 6 distinct and luxurious bedrooms that include two master suites (one on each of the upper levels), a bunk room for the kids and en suite facilities juxtaposing glass, wood and marble complimenting the tranquility of these private sanctuaries composed. The mellow design and arrangement of the living area offers plenty of scope for restorative, private relaxation, as well as sophisticated socialising. It is a lovely and enticing ambiance in which to stretch out on one of the long sofas around a glowing fireplace after coming back from a day of exertion out on the mountains, not forgetting the added bonus of those other fantastic recreational spaces below.
This luxurious alpine chalet has considerable merits and with plenty of space and scope for indulgent relaxation and sophisticated fun with family and friends. As such this special property offers the most appeal to a family and anyone accustomed the highest standards and expecting only the best for a special occasion or vacation in the French Alps. It is a haven of serene tranquility and refinement that will be equally appreciated by a discerning group of friends with young kids in tow.
