“The last Mediterranean paradise” is an expression used often to describe Formentera Island in the Balearics and it is what pushed the Italian owner of this beautiful, luxury villa, to focus her search for her new holiday bolthole, in this pristine island with famous beaches. It was love at first sight when she visited the plot; it had it all. Uninterrupted views, large spaces, mature vegetation and the fact that, being in the centre of the island, it is ideally located to reach out to the best that Formentera has to offer. Due to the persistence of her visiting friends, what she envisioned as a cosy and small villa soon turned to be a larger project, as she realised that Formentera is all about being social and that true luxury villas with a convivial atmosphere, were scarce. Two years later, a true gem materialized; an unpretentious yet stylish villa, whose traditional cubic volumes reflect the bright light of Formentera. The owner was responsible for furnishing this villa with an aura of coolness, enhanced by the simplicity of pure linen fabrics and luxurious understated details, craved by the cosmopolitan bohos and bobos alike. Inside you find modern, practical, polished concrete flooring, wood, corten and whitewashed walls; natural materials and finishes that enhance the feeling of freshness and fulfil the owners’ wish to maintain the characteristic flavour of Formentera. The intentional sensation of bareness and calm is combined with personal touches and with state-of-the-art technology to ensure that everyone can find its own haven.

Completed in 2012, this property can accommodate up to 12 people in 6 en suite bedrooms; an additional independent single bedroom is devoted to staff accommodation. The villa is divided in two different buildings, the annex being ideal for guests who want to enjoy extra privacy or for visiting friends. Contrary to most rooftop terraces, abundant in Ibiza and Formentera, the rooftop solarium is designed as a real chill out, “an outdoor living room with magnificent views and the added benefit of a heated outdoor Jacuzzi”, as we like to think of it. Despite being geared towards social gatherings (the communal areas afford plenty of space), the size of the plot and its settings ensure that peace and refuge is granted to those who favour withdrawing from the bustle of everyday city living. The furniture is an interesting blend of a simple but sophisticated style and understated designer pieces. You will certainly find irresistible its outdoor spaces, where Mediterranean trees and aromatic bushes have been retained or planted anew: rosemary, sage, pomegranate, orange and olive trees, among others. A natural backdrop for the large, exquisite and welcoming swimming pool, built on concrete and surrounded by a wooden sundeck.

This eco-luxury villa has something to offer to each and every taste. However, anyone seeking harmony and balance with the environment, space and silence in maximum privacy, may feel they have found paradise on Earth.
